So many times you read the remarkable Max Bianco, adopted son of Cambridge, is on the brink of stardom. He has already fronted a few bands and performed solo at the Corn Exchange - but there is that elusive quality of greatness that prompts his fans to want more.

Well this week they’ve got it. Max’s new solo album is out today. His unique but somehow familiar voice emerges with a staccato force. And it can be tender and seductive. “ Just like Bob Dylan’ comes the usual label, and here is an artist to match Dylan’s restless soul, but the hard knocks have lasted longer and the bewildered questions are more complex.

As if a new album isn’t enough, Max has a dream about to come true. He will support the headline Libtertines at his own fantasy venue, Camden Roundhouse , just vacated by Ed Sheeran and The Darkness. Possibly even more than a début disc, this chance to strut his stuff with the greats of rock means everything to Max

Yet he hasn’t left his Cambridge supporters behind people who have backed him through the dark times and the good - step forward David who apart from starting Cambridge’s latest hair salon in Norfolk Street, has provided shelter from the storm when the going got rough.
